Setting up a Web Server in Your Basement

Part 6: Installing Mail Services

There is a copmlete installation guide for ubuntu mail services at https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/email-services.html.

What follows is not a complete guide. It's what I did to get my email services working. If you follow my steps you'll get my configuration. If you go to the official ubuntu documentation you'll get the full story and maybe make different choices.

If this is the first time you've ever set up a mail server following my footsteps will be less confusing. I would recommend you build my version, get some experience with it, then as an experienced user read the ubuntu documents.

If you want another "how I installed mail on ubuntu" check out this link.

Another formula installation is at here .

Postfix installation and configuration

This is as far as I go. You are on your own for other services or programming. Best of luck. I'll leave the links below so so can review them while you create you own server document.

Part 1: Server installation (LAMP configuration)

Part 2: Put your server on the internet (router configuration)

Part 3: Connect your domain name with your server (DNS Provider)

Part 4: Set up your web site (HTTP server)

Part 5: Set up file upload/download (FTP server)
